Approximately 10,000 acres of land, which previously flooded, would become available for development once the flood control lakes have been completed. This land represents the upper level flat wood terraces of the floodplain. Near the reservoir dam, these terraces will be approximately 7-1/2 feet above lake level and will not flood during another 1979 flood. Near Lakeland, where 1979 flood levels will be reduced approximately 10 feet, some cutting and filling on the original ground level will be required for development.
