Two Lakes : Dreams Realized

Tributaries

Tributaries will flow freely into the lakes. Flood levels in the creek estuaries will be the same as the lake levels. The following USGS map of the 1979 flood shows how flood levels in creeks are the same as flood levels in the floodplain opposite the creeks For example: If the flood levels in the lake, opposite Hanging Moss Creek are 11.3 feet lower than the 1979 flood, then the homes along Hanging Moss Creek will experience an 11.3 foot drop in flood level.

PAYMENT OF NON-FLOOD COSTS

It is anticipated that non-flood aspects of this plan will be paid for by the benefiting communities through the issuance of bonds. Bonds would be retired by increasing the tax base on all additional development adjoining the lake with the exception of the island. The island would be owned by the municipalities. Bonds would be retired through the sale of this 600 acre parcel of downtown real estate and through increased taxes on the development that it create.
